Circles UK, the national charity that supports its member projects in their work with communities, using volunteers to reduce sexual reoffending, has appointed Liz Brown as its new Chief Executive. Liz, who succeeds Stephen Hanvey, has an extensive background in leading charities which provide advocacy and community-based practical and emotional support, principally through volunteers, in the hospice, health and social care, and military welfare sectors. Her most recent appointment was Chief Executive of Dorothy House Hospice near Bath where 1000 volunteers work alongside nurses and doctors to support patients with end of life needs and their families. She was previously Director, Services Support for SSAFA (Soldiers’, Sailors’ and Airmen’s Families Association), leading 1000 volunteers who deliver a range of support, including for victims of crime, to the military community in the UK and overseas.
